My situation has been a little shaky for a while, but I've been covering my expenses with commissions. And working on a game! I don't have any illusions of suddenly striking it rich, but I was making good progress, and the possible income would've helped.
But then a power supply problem melted a hole in my hard drives and hard work. While the loss hurts, I can rebuild. A friend is even sending me an old replacement PC. But there are still expenses to worry about, and the problems I was trying to prepare for won't wait on my recovery. (Darned landlords raising rent.)
So, I'm opening commissions again, with the caveat that these may take some time- I already had some work to do that I'll now have to re-do, and I'm taking more than I usually would. I promise not to leave anyone waiting until the sun engulfs the earth (provided we're not *very* wrong about stellar evolution), but some of these may take months.
