Independent Islands of Loft

⇠Back to Home

The Independent Islands of Loft are a coalition of small self-governing islands, banded together for mutual benefit. They hold each other to high standards: The constituent islands are democratic, and guarantee decent conditions for their inhabitants. Most of them have specialized within the federation, economically and militarily, and become famous for their particular niche.

Skill Familiarity

Choose a craft/profession skill and any other skill. You gain a +2 origin bonus to rolls with those skills.

Civics

Involvement with the democratic governments of Loft teaches almost everyone certain talents, whether you were elected or merely had unwanted run-ins with local planning councils.

Gain Diplomacy, Knowledge (Local), Linguistics, and Sense Motive as class skills. If you also gain one of these as class skills from a class, you instead get a +1 untyped bonus to all rolls with that skill.

When you fail a diplomacy check that would cause a creature's attitude toward you to worsen, it is instead unchanged. Any specific creature can only be affected by this once per day.

Apprenticeship

Those who grow up in the Islands of Loft are well taken care of, and widespread apprentice and education programs cultivate good health and natural ability.

Choose Fleet Movement, Thick-Skinned, or Overflowing Energies.

Fleet Movement

One of your movement speeds that you possess increases by 5 feet.

Thick-Skinned

You gain a +1 natural armor bonus to AC.

Overflowing Energies

You gain 1 bonus spell point. When you have no spell points left, you gain a +1 bonus on concentration checks.

Irregular Army

Militia, guard, and hunter forces in the Islands of Loft are handled mostly by individual islands, giving their collective armies a strange patchwork of skills. These specializations tend to make it to civilians and anyone who learns to fight on the Islands.

Choose Weapon of Choice, First to Battle, or Proficient Background.

Weapon of Choice

Choose a single weapon you are proficient with (warhammers, daggers, light crossbows, etc). You gain a +1 origin bonus on damage rolls with that weapon.

First to Battle

You gain a +2 origin bonus to initiative checks.

Proficient Background

You gain a single Equipment-sphere Discipline talent of your choice. These grant weapon proficiencies and sometimes small bonuses with specific kinds of weapons.
